I couldn't be more pleased!! I guessed at the loom size and it was right! Desi said it fits perfectly. She also said the color's also a perfect match for her dressier coat. I had actually made it for her to wear with her everyday black jacket. After all, just about everything goes with black...
She said it is so soft, it's wonderful! I was so hoping the yarn would be plenty soft for her to be able to wear it for extended periods when she's out. Her hat was made with Luscious available at Hobby Lobby. I told her I'm going to send a swatch made with Paradox and regular worsted so she can put it on her head and see if it's soft enough to wear. It's soft to me but you never know how it's going to feel to someone else. Everyone's skin has its own sensitive meter.
I've also completed a couple more hats but don't have pictures yet. I'm making myself a black worsted/black labrynth hat like the one I've made to give away. It's probably 2/3 done. I'm not sure what I'm going to make after that. A lot will depend on the response to the swatch(es) from Desi.
Happy Looming!!

Desi's Chemo Hat

I just sent Desi's chemo hat off to her yesterday. I'm hoping the Luscious yarn that I got from Hobby Lobby will be soft enough and won't irritate her head. She's always had a problem with the skin on her head being very sensitive to textures when she's on chemo. Anyway, here's a couple of shots of the hat.
I made it the same way as all the others I've been doing lately. I think I'm pretty well caught up as far as hats go now. I still have several to make for the grandkids but the adults are taken care of, I think.

Something New!!

I've been crocheting for thirty some years but have just recently discovered loom knitting. It's similar to what we did as kids with wooden spools and nails--only on a bigger scale. It goes really quickly and in the last week I've managed to whip out 5 hats and am getting ready to start one for Desi.
I wasn't bright enough to remember to take pictures of the first two hats that I did but I'll get pictures of them later on. I made a hat for my daughter on the regular adult size loom and it fits fine--WAY too snug for me!! I've always had a problem getting hats to fit. I've made hats for myself and and a friend on the bigger loom (11.5 inch or 41 peg). They fit fine and don't feel like the circulation is going to be cut off.
The hat shown at the right is one made for a friend of mine. It is black worsted with a fancy fun yarn called Labrynth in black. It has some nice, classy features and looks really swell made up with the black worsted. In fact, I was so pleased with how it worked up, I'm going to make myself one just like it. Oh, that's Teeny investigating the new wig head I brought home.
This purple hat is one I made for myself. Purple is my favorite color and this one was made with black worsted and another fancy yarn called Paradox in purple. I got all these yarns at Hobby Lobby. I've been very pleased with how all of these hats turned out.
